A popular children's cartoon series which has appeared on Télévision Française 1 since 1985. Its eponymous character is a half-human, half-octopus who squirts ink on his foes. He is clearly based on the Apoffle [[Sobby]], although in the cartoon the character does not have any history of prostitution.  

Inspector Sobby is the only fictional character to have been awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques.
